Obama Fail
I was a big fan, till Obama’s FISA vote showed that he’s no different than any other scumbag in DC.
Ah well.

Feb 21st was the only day this season with any accumulation. It was mostly gone by the end of the day. Schools were closed in most of the area.

Nice simple presentation over at Google Docs. From reddit.
Here are the fruits of my work on Fancast.com: you can watch Breakfast Club now till the Christmas eve! There is a lot more full-length movies as well as current shows that are on tv now. We just launched our new version (1.7) today, and most shows will go full-screen now. Take a look at it. If you are interested in more Breakfast Club info, checkout Wikipedia.
Hey I haven’t forgotten about dillerama! It’s just that Aoife is here now, so there is so much less time.
All the cool stuff is over at http://aoife.dillerama.org so come on over!

There’s been a dearth of updates here this year, I know. It’s a really busy year. With Andy working at Comcast on the new fancast.com, Katie wrapping up her 2nd year of residency at Temple, and starting he 3rd, oh yeah, and they baby-to-be…. It’s been busy. But things have been happening.
The 900 blockers and friends got together again for the 4th, and had a great picnic down at Clark Park. The weather was perfect on the 3rd, but cloudy and humid on the 4th. There were threats of rain all day, and a few light showers throughout the day, but it was fine BBQ weather. We even fit in some Bocce before it got dark. Many more babies this year.

John Hodgson also took some pictures and has a web album of them.
We needed a break from the city, so a weekend down at Cape May was the solution. It sure is a different vibe in the summer. We were last here back in February, during a warm spell. The summer months bring a ton of day trippers and vacationers like us. This time we rented a tandem-bike (side by side) with a roof and (Andy) pedaled around the Cap for the better part of two hours. We stayed at Captain’s Meys, a nice restored B&B right on Ocean ave.

Katie organized and promoted a nice welcoming BBQ for all the new 1st years at Temple. One of the attendings, Dr. Barron hosted the BBQ at his beautiful house outside of Blue Bell, PA. It was a perfect day and attendance was stronger than expected. All the 1st years showed up and bonded over Bocce ball.

Cute little olive, the puppy bitbull.
Katie and her colleges gave a presentation at the 2007 American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting, in San Diego. Then she spent some time with her friend Doreen, who moved down to San Diego (really Encinitas) from San Francisco. They weren’t too far away from San Marcos.

Question and Answer session after their presentation

We took a week trip down to Naples to see what it’s like out of season. The weather was beautiful and we had a nice break from a chilly Philly. Naples is very different out of season with all the snow birds gone. Not that it still wasn’t plagued with traffic, it was. But you could go out to eat and not have to worry about making reservations three days in advance. It was nice to walk into a place and be seated right away. It’s always weird carrying around a sweater for dinner, as Floridians love to chill their restaurants to about 68 degrees Fahrenheit. We left on the day of the Kentucky Derby, so early in the morning Katie, Jim and I drove up to the dog track at Bonita Beach to place some bets. Nobody won however- luck wasn’t down in southwest Florida that day.

I know we’re well into 2007, but this is the first update for dillerama. I’m changing a lot of things, primarily by moving all the web hosting out of my basement and onto servers managed by dreamhost (www.dreamhost.com). So far things are working out well. I hope to save many times over the cost of this hosting with reduced electric bills. I’m serious. As many of you know, since I’ve started working for Comcast back in September I’ve had little time to mess with these servers. So letting a company host and mange them makes a lot of sense, and will there will be much less issues. Dillerz email is staying on my servers (the Zimbra server) for now.
I have a bunch of pictures and info, which I’ll be posting back up soon.
Zimbra will be down for a while while I upgrade and back it up.
If you notice problems with email or other things, first check this site, where I’ll try to post notices about what is going on.

Of course, if the Internet connection is down, you won’t be able to reach that site either.
Where all the action is: It’s here on the new pages I’ve been putting on .Mac.
Check it our for lots of recent photos.
I’ve been publishing my photos to iWeb, which is the service I get from Apple (.Mac). It cost $100 a year, but I get email, web space and it ties in with all these i-apps that come with the Macintosh- namely, iPhoto and iWeb. The pictures will also download faster since they are not on this server. .Mac is really nice with two Apple computers - it will keep them both in sync with each other so that I always have access to my data, regardless of which Mac I am using.
So here are some shots from around town.
Katie got me a new camera for our anniversary- its a Canon PowerShot SD630 and its very nice.
There is a new mechanical beast at Cobb Island. It is replacing Tom’s Rx7, which escaped recently from the compound. Apparently this one is a 220 CCR, and it looks pretty sweet. My jetski, however will run rings around it.
From Wally:
When broken in it’ll go 45-48 mph, at 3000 rpm (25-26 mph) it’s burning about 6 gals an hour
I can guess the name: “the Chica“
Yet another release of ZImbra- so I upgraded the mail server. Hopefully it will continue to improve.
Back at Cobb Island, Katie is still trying to kill poor little Chica (who, btw, is the sweetest dog there ever was). Luckily she was stopped before she did much– just chopped off Chica’s front paw. It was rescued and sewn back on in a grueling 14-hour surgery at La Plata’s Pet Trauma Center.
Mike got his Diploma this month- and Betsy and Wally went out to Kansas to celebrate with him.
Jim had this to say “Here is Jackson. 10lbs 1 oz - 20 inc long”
(click on the photo for an enlargement)
So now there are four next-gen Dillers on the planet. I heard that Tom’s shower present is a white RX-7 that needs a little work. Jack will love it though, when he turns 16.
